Shared Narratives

The IHJR developed a series of “shared narratives” that seek to reconcile conflicting perspectives on contested historical legacies that are the source of tension in former and current conflict regions around the world.

To this end, the IHJR worked with respected scholars from opposing sides of a conflict to dispel historic myths, identify points of agreement, and explore the potential for addressing disagreements on contested historical facts or interpretations.  This work has appeared in articles, books, exhibitions, and other forms of public dissemination such as seminars, debates and discussions.

The IHJR has conducted projects on shared narratives in the following regions:

Armenia/Turkey
Indonesia
Israel/Palestinian Territories
Kenya

Former Yugoslavia
